Normal halogen headlights use bulbs which are very low power, and put out a very low amount of light. HALOGEN bulbs are very inefficient and are being used less and less in todays cars. As more and more time goes on HID lights are becoming the standard for automotive lighting.
HID (High Intensity Discharge) headlights put out over 5 times the amount of light that 1 standard halogen light bulb puts out. They are very high power, and make it very easy to see things at night. HID headlights will light up the road in front of you as if it were day time! Once you see the difference between regular halogen headlights and HID headlights, you will never go back.
It is truly amazing how much better you can see with HID headlights, and not only do they produce amazing visibility, but they look great also.
So your looking for the best hid kit money can buy without hurting your pocket book too hard at the same time. If you ask alot of people they will tell you some of the top names in hid kits are HELIOS, Bellof, Prolumen, McCULLOCH, Philips, Hella, Osram, Matsushita, MTEC. While its hard to say that anyone of them is the best kit, them names come up alot when people are recommending brands. Just if your wondering i’m running a Hella/Philips setup with Generation-3 Ballast Pair with integrated ignitors and i’m very pleased with the outcome.
What should i check for before buying a HID Kit?
- Brand of ballasts and ignitors the kit comes with
- Warranty ( look for something with atleast a year and quick turnarounds for hid parts)
- Are you buying from a dealer thats going to stand by its product
- Do they answer you emails fast and prompt
- A shop that will install them and adjust and aim them right
- Beware that some cars use the same bulb for Day Time Running Light (DRL) and low beam, in cases like that you will have to either re-locate the DRL or turn HID on all the time
Also look for things like color temperature 6000K etc (make sure you view some pictures so you know what your getting into) blinding others will just keep you busy with paying off tickets. So try to go with a safe choice. It really comes down alot of the time to a no hassle no bullshit warranty. If you send in the bad hid kit part and they send you the good ones then everyone is happy. You can check ebay for some great deals on hid kits just make sure you check there feedback and didn’t give anyone warranty issues.
Here at HID Kits we try to look out for you. So when we see a problem we try to help. Be Aware some ebay sellers are selling fake MTEC Kits. I’m not going to name names but they are out there. So make sure when you buy your kit you check for the pre installed isolate pad also check for a S/N and Batch number. If you kit has no S/N and no Batch number then its almost 99.9% fake. What else should you look for to spot a fake kit? So far the fake kits do not come with any Installation Guide and the sellers who do not show the picture of the ballast watch out for. A Real MTEC seller will also offer a Authentic MTEC 2 year warranty, but fake ones only provide 1 year or even 20 days. So when looking for a kit even on EBAY expect to pay atleast 300 dollars and up. If you want more infomation check out the MTEC Store online. They also have a page that can give you a better idea of what to look for and how to spot a fake kit. If you want to check out some reviews on the real MTEC kits view our page here. Every type of kit was found to have knocks off’s.
